Book about the teachings at the German School of Watchmaking, Glashütte
The book "Die Lehre an der Deutschen Uhrmacherschule" is certainly the most important textbook for watchmaking apprentices that has ever been published in Germany. It is divided into three volumes (one per year of apprenticeship), which are reproduced in high print quality. The first volume, the first year of apprenticeship, is split into 10 months and begins with the workplace, then describes many working methods, including turning and making tools and aids for the watchmaker.
The second volume, the second year of apprenticeship, is all about the pocket watch: setting stones, screwing in the cylinder, placing the coil spring, the anchor clock.
This is continued in the third volume, the third year of apprenticeship: Minute drive, wind-up click, gold lining drives and shafts, finishing work, and regulation.
The 403 vivid illustrations and dimensional drawings accompany this excellent book for watchmaking training.
