This second volume of the 1951 textbook for the watchmaking training testifies to the demands made on young craftspeople and describes in detail the skills and techniques to be mastered, as well as the mechanical training that watchmakers complete. It includes everything that watchmakers need for their job, in terms of mechanical and technological knowledge.

In terms of content, the three-part textbook teaches the subject matter of the watchmaker's theory, starting with the basics and definitions on the subject of "time and time measurement" as well as explanations and functional descriptions of the various types of clocks and watches and components. The second essential part deals with the repair and maintenance of different types of clocks and watches, while the third part of this didactically structured textbook details the subject of specialised calculations and the calculation of missing components.

Older textbooks are often outdated in their terms and standards and therefore difficult to understand in today's world. Therefore, all physical units have been updated in this annotated reprint and many comments refer to current standards and terms.
