SELVA – A Tradition Since 1961

1961

Company founded by Karl C. Schlenker as a wholesale and export business dealing in watches, clocks and similar merchandise. The company’s seat is in a domestic dwelling in the Southern German clock town of Schwenningen.
Start of a small mail order business for hobbyists in the basement of the owner’s home. The offer includes simple clock parts such as quartz battery movements, clock hands, hour markers, etc. Customers are generated by small advertisements in hobby magazines and with a simple A4 flyer.

The first catalogue is issued in 1968. It has 24 colour pages with a comprehensive range of clock parts and weather instruments.

1969

The company moves to a considerably larger office building in Schwenningen with a spacious stock room in the basement.

1978

Steady growth calls for the move to a much larger building located in the music town of Trossingen. Parts of this building are renovated, other parts rebuilt to suit the company’s specific needs. By this time, the annual catalogue had grown to 104 pages. In addition to clock parts and supplies, small tools, clock kits, finished clocks, music movements, weather instruments, hobby books, and supplies for creative hobbies are offered.

2011 – 50 Jahre SELVA

Steady expansion, adjustment and fine-tuning of the sales programme with a total of 166 catalogue pages. Strong growth is seen in the range of wrist- and pocket watches, wall and mantel clocks as well as supplies for creative hobbies.

2016

The Schlenker Family decides to sell the SELVA Co. to the RUDOLF FLUME TECHNIK GmbH as of 1. April 2017 and is very pleased that SELVA’s business success will be continued by the renown FLUME Company, founded in 1887, with the same focus on quality and service.
